Nia is a local realtor who is helping Julian find the ideal property to expand for his upscale property developer company. Julian sets his eye on Nia's family owned inn that is managed by her father who wants to sell and retire. Julian's company decides they want the property, but intend to change the inn. Nia sets out to find other options and hopes to save the family inn.

Nia Moore and her business partner Bonnie own and operate the most successful real estate agency in Pine Valley in upstate New York. As she has done since she received it, Nia is wearing her long passed mother's antique watch this Christmas in her memory, and despite the watch not having worked since she received it. It, for the first time in her possession, starts working again without explanation, it coinciding with the arrival into town of Nia's latest corporate client, Julian Thompson of Optima, a resort development company. Nia is unaware that Julian was alerted to the development potential in small town Pine Valley by his college friend, Pine Valley resident and tech billionaire Sean Robinson, who had further told him of the Pine Valley Inn potentially being the perfect property for Julian's needs. While Julian ends up being fixated with the Pine Valley Inn as the property he wants to acquire, he is unaware that Nia is doing whatever she can to steer him away from it as it is her father Patrick Moore's business, and while it has been struggling financially of late and while Patrick wants to retire, Nia has long wanted to buy the property and business herself when she was financially able to continue the family legacy. Finally coming clean of it being her family's business, Nia is also up front with Julian that she still does not want her father to sell to Optima even if he doesn't sell to her in knowing that Optima would not keep many of the aspects of the inn that make it special not only to her but to anyone coming to Pine Valley, which Julian confirms in that the actual development would not be in his control. As Nia and Julian start to fall for each other, what happens to the inn is a potential obstacle in they forging a personal relationship, he not being able to acquire it by Christmas may mean his job as his cutthroat boss Robyn Hahn wants the property at any cost. Nia's mother's watch may provide that gauge as to the state of Nia and Julian's relationship.
