I can tell that the writer of this movie knows about the ancient writings that speak of a place on the Earth that is to open during the end times. During that time, the creatures that survived the great deluge that were imprisoned behind a secret door; they're to be released for a very short period of time to destroy a percentage of mankind. It is written in some ancient texts that Alexander the Great ran into their civilization during his great conquest. Him and his scouts were struck with intense fear and Alexander knew that these creatures would lay waste to his great army. According to the ancient text, Alexander called out to God for help and God allegedly answered him and instructed him about how to construct the door that will seal the creatures behind the two mountains that God had allegedly pulled together close enough but wide enough for what is said to be an impenetrable sealed doorway. Although the movie's graphics where underfunded, what made the movie entertaining was the solid actors and then the hidden knowledge being told to the audience through this movie.

CGI is particularly bad. I would have been okay with that if the story had been remotely engaging. I was bored watching this.

Now luckily I have a region free DVD player and I can watch it, do not trust this seller.The movie is great by the way.

Day Of Reckoning was a decent above average B-movie icky bug. It had pretty much a cast of unknown victims, at least to me, though after looking them all up on IMDB, they’re all still working, just in shows I never watch.

The movie had a decent plot with only a few moments of the typical “blank screen with sound effects” that for some reason, movie producers and directors think ups the tension, but in reality, is just plain annoying. On the other hand, there were plenty of glimpses of the icky bugs and not just “hints” or blurs and vague suggestions like some movies do. I appreciated that. Also, the payoff at the end was what really made this one for me. It didn’t have to make a lot of sense, well none of the plot did, it just had to entertain me for a couple of hours. Recommended.

The creatures and different monsters attack humans to rise hell on earth . For this low budget are the creatures and monsters not badly done . De CGI was not great , but ok . The story was reminding me of the movie THE REMAINING . Some of these B movies are more entertaining than the A movies . I give this movie 7/10 overall .

Im Handlungsablauf gab es so einige unlogische Verhaltensweisen, wenn es ums Überleben geht. Der Film war temporeich und unterhaltsam. Kein Meisterwerk, aber bei einem schönen Videoaband kann man ihn durchaus genießen.

In 2002, during an eclipse, creatures from deep within the Earth come to the surface and proceed to kill much of the human population. Ever since, humans have been preparing for another attack by creating fortified buildings and educating their children, however nothing has happened for the past (approx) 15 years. But in 2016 events are occurring that point to another imminent invasion.

A budget monster film, this one, in typical SyFy fashion, follows a dysfunctional family as the disaster unfolds, travelling from one place to another in search of safety and interacting with different people along the way. There isn't really a lot of story going on and very little explanation about the creatures - no one seems to have learned anything about them in the 15 years they have been away and once again they just seem to arrive. There is some unexplained link to an eclipse but this is unclear as there have been many eclipses between 2002 and 2016. The filmmakers seem to want you to bond with the lead characters and cheer them on, hoping they will survive. The characters are not particularly well developed so it's difficult to like or dislike them, but there is one extremely comical moment where they need to venture out of a bunker and they find a cache of enormous weapons, and their eyes all light up (adults and children alike) as they pick up these weapons and load the chambers. It's scary that this seems so normal for them.....

The film moves along at a reasonable pace and has lots of average to reasonably good special effects. Credit has to be given to the special effects artists as they are tasked with providing hordes of different types of creatures and they do show them in countries across the world. For a small budget film this would have been a big ask so the result is probably pretty good.

Although the story is quite thin it all works reasonably well and is fun enough for lovers of creature films. 3.5 stars.

Die Monster sind recht gut gemacht und animiert. Die Grundidee ist ebenfalls recht gut. Da hätte man viel draus machen können!

Aber: Die Umsetzung der Story bzw. das Drehbuch sind lahm und belanglos – teilweise auch völlig hirnrissig und unlogische Handlungsweisen der Akteure, recht plötzliche nicht nachvollziehbare Änderung der Lichtverhältnisse von Nacht nach Tag, unsw..
Die Schauspieler sind schlecht, wirken lustlos und sehen blöd aus. Deren z.T. völlig unpassende und unklare Synchronstimmen sind eine Zumutung!
Das Bild einiger Szenen ist für meinen Geschmack viel zu dunkel geraten.

Fazit: Ab in die Tonne! Echt eine Frechheit von Splendid-Film, so ein Ergebnis abzuliefern.
