My daughter absolutely loves this series of books. So bought the movie to watch together. She said the movie was all right, but straight from the books quite a bit and left a lot of important details out. She did explain those details to me and some of them I felt weren't as important to the story, but others were extremely important to understand what's going on in the story.

So overall if you've read the books and love them, the movie will be a little lackluster. If you haven't read the books the movie is still easy to follow, however they did leave out some important details that would have made it even more exciting and enjoyable.
