    I really like this Coen brothers movie. Sure, it's lighter than their dark films like "No Country for Old Men" or "Blood Simple". But so what, this is a comedy. And a typical Coen comedy. Tom Hanks is brilliant in the role of the bad guy, a shady but charming latin professor aspiring to rob a casino. I have a hard time seeing any faults in this movie (and I can't understand the low ratings). Compared to all other "comedys" that Hollywood churns out every day this is a masterpiece! If you like other Coen comedys like "Burn After Reading" or "Intolerable Cruelty", you will probably like "The Ladykillers".

    Addition: some reviewers find the Coen version of "Ladykillers" inferior to the 1955 original, starring Alec Guiness and Peter Sellers. Now I have seen the original, and I don't agree. While the original is a good and clever movis, the Coen remake is better in all respects and elevates the concept to a new level.
