great modern slasher film
Lake Bodom is an expertly delivered modern horror slasher film. It effectively references and plays with mechanisms of the genre- final girl, campfire stories, lakeside, twisted ankle in the woods victim, etc. I like the twists of betrayals and role reversals. These were unexpected and very well delivered. The acting, writing, directing, lighting, costumes, and cinematography are top-notch in Lake Bodom. I would have happily issued five stars if this were an actual perfect film. There were some very minor loose ends left exposed, but nothing that interfered with the experience of the story.

    A pretty good foreign film that riffs on - but does not reenact - an infamous murder tale from a long ways back. Sort of a smarter Friday the 13th situation, with a more complicated ending than usual. The trailer will tell you if you'd want to watch - I thought it was worth it. Note there is another film with a similar name, so be cautious.
