I'm going to start this off with something I've noticed with these type of movies. Whenever there's a strong female lead(s) you'll find that most of the negative reviews come from men. I laugh every time I read their reviews. They complain that it's another girl hates guys movie. I bet they enjoy the movies where it's a man killing women.... But hating men is not even the point with this movie. Stop reading if you don't want the movie spoiled.

To me, the point of the movie IS revenge but also twisted loyalty and obsession. They don't kill random people on the street, they killed people that hurt Shae whether by indifference or directly. The guy that assaulted her, and her ex were two people that hurt Shae physically. Even if the ex didn't physically hurt her, he definitely did emotionally. The friends of the rapist seemed indifferent or just plain in the way. The cop was definitely a jerk to Shae. The last guy was killed because he was getting in the way and the sociopath was so obsessed that's all she could see. All of the men that died weren't innocent in regards to hurting Shae. None of them really deserved it except maybe the rapist. That's just my personal opinion. The one thing I didn't like was the absence of cops and the disappearing bodies. What did they do with the bodies? How were they not arrested? In the real world they would have been caught pretty quickly. Forensics would have been their downfall. That's my only complaint. I don't regret watching it, don't know if I'll watch it again, but would definitely recommend it to my female friends.

A female empowerment revenge film made by a man? Hmmmm... I don't think a female director would have made her shorts so short. It was decent but hard to describe in a few sentences. I recommend it to fans of the extreme (e.g., Hostel or Sawmovies).

Our male writer/director (Austin Chick) piles the female oppression on pretty hard. We first find Shae(Danielle Panabaker) in some sort of feminist women's studies class talking to her classmate about her married boyfriend who's about 15+ years her senior. After he breaks things off she feels lost without her unhealthy relationship as she fends off unwelcome advances at work (as a night club bartender) and sneaks off to cry about the loss of this loser. As if she didn't already have a big enough deficit of self worth, Shae is always dressed in very short shorts or snug tiny skirts.

Lu (Nicole LaLiberte) works at the same bar, but she handles her shallow clientele with more assertiveness; she won't be bullied or taken advantage of by men. She wants to help Shae feel better so they go out for a night of drinks and dancing. But when one thing leads to another, Shae finds herself alone with a man in a situation where "no" has little weight. As if that wasn't bad enough--and ALL of this has happened in just one day so far--Shae's day gets much worse with! After that which would undeniably be considered the worst day of her life, she can't even report the multiple assailants without being called "sweetheart" by a dismissively skeptical cop who says "you look fine to me."

Yeah, laying it on a little thick, huh?

Nicole LaLiberte does a solid job as the vengeful, sociopathic and sultry Lu. She kills a man in a cringingly brutal manner and just looks him in the eye, watching as he dies. She plans murders with the same calm deadpan demeanor one would have while reading the nutrition information off of a Captain Crunch cereal box. The yin to Lu's yang, Shae is clearly the shy one, but she's along for the ride willingly and finds her murderous footing quickly. The two of them embrace their vengeful actions--not as righteous, but simply "right" as if they had no other cares or sense of consequence in the world.

They have some funny moments. The delivery of their homicidal discussions provides a great dark comedy appeal in a few scenes. The gore element is present and there's even a brief dash of torture, but it's not celebrated as it is in the Hostel movies. We still get gummy detoothed mouths, some dismemberment, and exit wound splatters, though.

The female empowerment is often credible, but at times, a bit over the top. For example, Lu physically handles herself way too well for someone who's probably never lifted anything heavier than a 6-pack and is a crackshot with a handgun and we have no reason to find that credible. However, anyone who watches this movie wants to see brutal and clever death scenes and likely wouldn't be too troubled with this shortcoming.

On the topics of female empowerment and death scenes, that's all we see. Unlike crime thrillers, this movie does not alternate between the killers' agenda and the police detectives tasked with the investigation of their bloody wake, there are no chase scenes and our "protagonist" murderesses make no effort to evade their pursuers (which we have no knowledge of, if they exist) or to cover their tracks or wipe their fingerprints from the crime scene. No. This movie is about two girls avenging how they've been wronged.

This was a female empowerment revenge film made by a man. It wasn't bad. But...hmmmm...I don't think a female director would have made Panabaker's shorts so short or LaLiberte's lesbian-driven nudity soooooo, well--naked. LOL.

It's still a fun romp, though.

Revenge movie where a nice girl gets involved with a very bad immoral girl that makes no distinction between right and wrong behavior. Bad girl is a serial killer that punishes men that she thinks are unfaithful by taking their life.

I didn't expect to like this movie this much but it was cohesive, interesting, well cast and portrayed. The theme of injustice plays out on ancient primal drives that corrupt the high ideals people strive to achieve. Tortured love leads to mortal repercussions that start out provocative and disintegrate into personal violations and bureaucratic indifference. Survival in such an existence hardens the soul and mistakes repeat.

I like the movie when I saw it by my friends house after she brought it in a store. I brought my from Amazon and it did not work in my blu-ray no matter what I tried to do the damn thing did not work. So instead of returning it to amazon I did the next best thing
and broke it into a bunch of pieces and thru the crap away not worth the time in returning it and waiting for another one.
But I did think the movie was good on someone elses Blue-ray. Thanks Amazon. :)

I tried to get into it, I even watched it twice but I'm sorry, it's not for me. If indeed, it had been Boys Against Girls it would probably have been seen as some sort of degrading movie that went nowhere.

The only recommendation that I can give is "Don't Bother". You have better things to do.

In this 2013 revenge style drama College student Shae (Danielle Panabaker) is dumped by her older married boyfriend and goes to a bar with her new work colleague, the psychotic Lulu (Nicole LaLiberte), where they meet Simon (Michael Stahl-David) but when she tries to brush him off, he ends up raping her, but what happens when only Lu shows any interest?
This has a good deep bass line when club music etc plays which helps create a good ‘atmosphere’, the lyrics reinforcing events on screen and clever photographic techniques hint that other themes may be in play. It’s actually convincingly acted with some decent special effects.
The single disc plays 2 trailers before offering play, scene selection and making of. Rated 15 this has limited use of the F word, one scene of full frontal nudity, an out of focus partial rape scene, contains overt fetish scenes and a few ‘Saw’ like torture moments. It’s a mix of ‘Thelma & Louise’ moments, with elements of ‘Saw’ and ‘Julia X’ but is unique in its own right. The ending has a nice twist [if you’ve been paying attention] being open enough to allow a sequel [or not] and is worth trying if a mix of those appeals but don’t expect a slash fest and much of the gore is off screen.
