I took a chance and purchased this because some reviews seemed to imply they got a DVD that works for Region 1. Unfortunately, that was not the case….. Also, as some of the reviews have mentioned, my DVD did not have subtitles either (the back of the DVD states “none” under subtitles) so I guess be sure to check details on the DVD before opening.

    I was wary of purchasing this since it said the country of origin was Australia, and therefore would possibly not play in my DVD player (since I am in the US). But, after all the positive reviews from the US, I decided to give it a try. I bought this specifically for Catch a Christmas Star because it's my son and I's favorite holiday movie and I wanted a more permanent copy (rather than just streaming).

    It came in today and I looked at the case and sure enough, it says Region 4 (Europe/Australia) and my heart sank. But I didn't give up hope just yet. Online I read something that said the VLC media player in a PC bypasses region and acts as a region-free player. So, I popped it into my computer's DVD drive (yes, older computer) and I already use VLC so I started it up, navigated to playing the DVD and it played with no issues. Then I checked our regular Blu-ray/DVD player and it also played with no issues!!! I watched it all the way through (and was surprised that there were scenes not seen when you watch it streaming from the Hallmark Channel).

    I am very happy with my purchase and I absolutely LOVED the movie and its additional scenes (that get cut for brevity and making room for commercials on network TV). Oh, and each movie in the 3 set pack is on its own DVD. And, as others have said, there are no closed captioning or subtitles (or any other features) on the DVD, just the ability to play the movie. But, I know all the words by heart anyway, so it's not a big deal to me.

    My husband and I love Christmas movies. We recently watched One Starry Christmas twice on Tubi because it didn't have the usual plot that most Christmas movies do. It had a different take on the boy-meets-girl. In order to get that movie, I had to order the Hallmark Christmas 3 Film Collection. We just got the set today, so we have not watched the other movies but look forward to viewing these new-to-us extras.

    Word of Caution: watch all movies before too much time goes by! First DVD set didn't work. If you are giving this as a gift, make sure to open it and watch all movies ahead of time.

    So I ordered this dvd set, opened it and played the movies...pretty much once I got it. Well, one of the discs kept freezing midday and skipping chapters, with no scratches on the disc set whatsoever.

    I was perplexed by this and very upset and requested a new one. It took some time but they sent me a replacement and that one worked fine on all 3 movies. I am very happy that the replacement went smooth. Other than that, very happy! Love the movie set.

    There are two DVDs with the same three movies from Amazon. One clearly states not playable in the US. The other plays in the US. Most DVD players can be switched to “multi zone” from a sequence on buttons on the remote. You can usually get the codes from the manufacture’s website or Google make and model “multi zone”.

    My only fault with the producers is that The Christmas Parade was actually filmed in Dundas, Ontario as can be seen at 1:22:03 into the movie by the banner stretched across “main” street marking the 125 year history of Dundas. Surely they could have found a small town in Connecticut. It appears many of the hallmark movies are filmed in Canada at places like Whistler, BC.

    Nonetheless, all of the movies on this DVD are fun to watch. Highly recommend them.

    I purchased it for One Starry Christmas because the story line is different from many of the current Hallmark movies. It is fun and romantic and makes you smile. I loved the movie Catch a Christmas Star. The music was enjoyable and once again it different from the current crop of movies . You can watch it with the family without having to explain anything. No language existed and they are romances between a man and woman if that concerns you. I wish Hallmark would go back to these story lines because to many of the new movies are about falling in love with a royal (as if that happens everyday) or someone about to loose a store and in the end all is good. The older movies seem better.
