With the right attitude, this is a terrific movie starring the absolutely lovely Kay Lenz. If you liked her in "Breezy", you'll like her just as much in this campy romp.

A maniac is killing strippers at a club..and the strippers won't talk to the cops. There is only one answer. The beauteous Detective Cody has to go undercover. Her partner talks her into entering an amateur contest. The winner,as measured by an applause meter, gets a full-time job. She nervously does so, and then says to her partner, "But what if I don't win the applause meter?" "Sure you will!", says her partner. "ALL the guys will be there!"

The audience packed with hooting cops, Detective Cody is hesitant at first, but loosens up and finally brings it all home. But when she tries to perform in front of a real non-biased audience, she falters. The problem is that she is a gorgeous woman, but not a great stripper. But she works hard, watches others, practices, and learns from the other girls. Soon she is a star, and liking it more and more. She is..liberated! (Hey, it could happen. Right?) At one point, the cops think they've nailed the guy and she is pulled off the case..but she refuses to quit! Dedication to justice is a praiseworthy quality. When you see her final show, you will agree!

This is a well-made movie with good music, lots of stripping, some genuine humor and dialogue, an intriguing plot, and Kay Lenz (and friends) with no clothes on frequently. I'm ready for a sequel! A recommended gem...

If you want to feel the experience of hanging out in a rather mellow 80's strip club, then this is the movie for you. There's not much plot, and a whole lot of plain-Jane strip club acts. The music's never too abrasive, the club is never too crowded... but the rules are always VERY restrictive. Topless only, and the strippers can't be within 5 feet of the customers (unless fully clothed). Yawn. This is gentle Skinemax to fall asleep to. AVOID (unless struggling with insomnia).

The Psychotronic Video Guide informs us that after agreeing to allow director Kat Shea to film this in an actual strip club (and following the $$$-making success it brought), Roger Corman then green-lighted subsequent films to be filmed in similar locations.

Heh. Okay, just wanted to get that out of the way, and if you don't LOVE exploitation films of this period, what are you doing looking at this page anyway? This is a classic of it's kind, gritty enough to make you think it might have been shot in the 70's, yet slick and cheesy (GREAT brain-numbing soundtrack) enough to remind you that it was in fact lensed in the 80's.

Any movie with a potentially creepy dude named "Pockets" in it makes me smile. The script, while not thoroughly having a lot of money to work with, makes the most of it, has a number of head-turners in store, and is much fun. Just put your mind in neutral and coast downhill.

Scorpion Releasing did us a favor by remastering this and it has plenty of bonus features, including an informative interview with Kat Shea who went onward and upward to present the world with bigger budgeted films, so enjoy! Kudos also to Amazon who had this in parked in my mailbox before I knew I ordered it (where did I place my brain-delay adjustment wrench?), and all secured in bubble-wrap, too.

Lots of good stripper scenes as a women cop goes under cover as a stripper to see who is murdring strippers.there is bitr of romance as the women cops partner flirts with her and the dvd moves along at a fast pace.i am not saying its academy award matrial but the story line is interesting and finding out who the killer is turns out to be a suprise. If you like b movies like i do with lots of nudity i recommend this dvd

If you enjoy lots of strip show scenes then this movie might be for you. All the women stripping are gorgeous. They're mostly stripping topless down to their g-strings. The overall plot is about a murder mystery. Two undercover police officers, Cody and Heineman, are trying to track down a serial killer who specifically targets strippers at a popular Los Angeles strip club called “Rock Bottom”. The female officer, Cody, goes undercover as a stripper at the strip club. The ending really caught me off guard. It's a fun murder mystery with lots of gratuitous nudity.

Professional strippers are by nature second rate, not in looks perhaps, but in importance. Most fellows would rather see women they know on stage thus, not some nonentity stranger. Too bad the movie makers did not realize that right off the bat. The early scenes are a yawn. Once the cop story kicks in the film kicks off. Then it becomes worthwhile. At least Kay Lenz is someone many recognize, so her strip scenes have a certain draw. But it is the mystery element that keeps this work afloat A worthy buy.

Pure 80s slasher/sleaze fun! I very much enjoyed this movie much more than I thought I would. I like the dancing scenes and the killer was a surprise to me. I highly recommend if you enjoy sleazy crime thrillers like I do.

If you rate on a 5 place rating with 1 being "sucks and a total waste of time", you might understand my 2stars. Two only bc back long ago I thought Kay was pretty hot. I truly don't understand how this vid has such a high rating.

This extra's filled release on DVD is playable on region 2 machines. It comes with 2 commentaries, one with director Katt Shea (and no it's not another David De Coctou made up name) being interviewed, the other a girly look back with director & female lead Kay Lenz 25 years on.The worst part of this film is the low budget film score used in the many dance scenes, which as revealed in commentary wasn't the music they danced to whilst filming. From the era of Motley Crue,Poison,Warrant,Ratt etc it might be better to listen to them and turn the sound down in those parts. The film that brought pole dancing to the masses attention and perhaps influenced the Demi Moore film a few years later.
