Turbo Kid, is easily one of my favorite movies ever made. To me it's one of those rare films that checks every box as far as my movie tastes are concerned and does so beautifully I think. Plus, while it take influences from other films, film genres or time periods. Well, I still found that this movie is wholly original and that's another reason I am such a massive fan of Turbo Kid.
I enjoyed the performances of every single actor in this movie. I really liked the aesthetics and production values a ton. With such a modest budget I thought the production team created a world of decay that felt so lived in. Everything in most of the shots looked like it was just itching to infect you with tetanus, hehe. I also really dug all the crazy and cool costumes and outfits all the actors wore. From the dark and grim outfits of the faceless bad guys to the old west look of Turbo Kid's kind of sidekick guy. To the awesome outfit he ended up wearing and even Apple's look was rad too.
For me, Turbo Kid, had just the right amount of everything to display such a cool looking apocalyptic, 1997 wasteland. Nothing was overdone but everything looked so good I thought. They really paid great attention to detail for this movie I found and I appreciated that so very much.
Also, the humor in the film made me laugh constantly. It was a very dark humor at times which is some of my favorite type of comedy. There was also quite a fair share of violence and over the top gore which I enjoyed as well. But, while it could be construed at gratuitous at times, I still felt it lent itself so well to the atmosphere and wacky character of the movie.
I also found that Turbo Kid had many touching scenes that were very heartfelt. The stuff with Apple and her journey and devotion. Which that devotion went to the point of hilariously crazy and creepy at times during the film, which cracked me up so much. But she was such a sweet, insanely likeable and cute character I thought. And the titular character of the Turbo Kid was awesome. He really made the entire movie for me. The way his character dealt with the terrible and crazy situations at hand at times reminded me of, Jesse Eisenbergs, character and how he just barely hung on to his sanity in the film, Zombieland. The two characters aren't the same I don't believe. But it was just seeing how they both tried so hard to get by with their bonkers surroundings that I felt at times made them seem similar. But I love the character in Turbo Kid a whole lot more.
I want to mention as well that while this film is brilliant in my opinion. Well, I don't think it would have that highest mark in my book if it wasn't for the equally amazing score by awesome electronic masterminds, Le Matos (which is French for "The Gear.") I've been such a huge fan of this group for quite a while now. And I believe that their score for the soundtrack of Turbo Kid is easily some of their best work ever. Their follow-up score to the follow-up film from these directors and production team, "The Summer of 84'", is also hugely stellar in my opinion. But, I believe that the score they did for this movie is just one of the best soundtracks and retro, Synthwave, Darkwave albums ever made. If you enjoy scores, soundtracks and music from the 80s and 80s movies, that are heavy on genius synths. Well, look no further. To me the soundtrack for Turbo Kid is the definitive version of this type. Plus, if you're able to find it I highly recommend buying the double album version of this soundtrack by Le Matos. It's titled 'Chronicles of the Wasteland / Turbo Kid OST' by Le Matos. I've listened to that crazy long running time album more times than I could ever hope to count. It's just a type of album and experience that for me really transports me to another time and place. The way that Le Matos writes music is nothing short of genius and ever so beautiful.
Again, while the film itself is such a memorable time. I also would say that without the score by Le Matos that it just wouldn't have the same amazing impact. It would still be good I think, for sure. But it's hard in my mind to separate the two from each other.
Also, there is a music video for the song "No Tomorrow (feat. Pawws) by Le Matos from this movie and its soundtrack/score. That I highly recommend checking out after you watch Turbo Kid and if you really enjoyed the film. Because the music video for that song has entirely new movie scenes that relate to Turbo Kid and I wouldn't be surprised if they filmed them at the exact same time they did filming on the movie They are shot with movie film and I won't ruin the plot so to speak of the music video. But I'll just say it deals more about some stuff with the character, Apple. And it's equally awesome and hilarious at the same time in my opinion. With also the intended and added bonus of getting to hear that beautiful song by Le Matos featuring the guest artist, Pawws. If that song doesn't stick in your head forever in the best way, I don't know what will. If you'd like to check out this music video it is most likely still available to watch on YouTube. Just search the terms "Le Matos - No Tomorrow (feat. Pawws) official music video" and I'd be hard pressed to believe that you won't find it. Just wanted to mention about this in case new or old fans of Turbo Kid didn't know there is a little bit more of this awesome movie to see in that music video.
I've purchased a copy of Turbo Kid three times on Blu-ray twice, one was the killer limited edition version and the other a regular version. And I just recently bought a digital copy here from Amazon to watch on my iPhone and iPad. So, if buying this movie three times doesn't tell you how much I adore this cult classic film, nothing will. I think if you go into Turbo Kid with no preconceived notions, and you don't mind the, at times, over the top gore and violence. Well, I believe you just may fall in love with the movie like I did. It may not be everyone's cup of tea. But I absolutely love this movie more than most I've seen. And in the 40 years I've been alive I've seen more movies than anyone I've ever met or probably will ever meet. My home video collection has well over 2,000 titles to it. And out of all those movies and I've seen and own, Turbo Kid, ranks right in the top 3 of my favorite movies ever made.

Nice prices, but look elsewhere...
I wish the disclaimer that this won’t work in the US had been posted back when I bought the disc... I looked to make sure. It also came in a thin plastic wrapping not protecting it at all so one corner came crushed and the disc was not clipped into the center piece. The other Blu-ray I bought at the same time came packaged individually and was ripped wide open on one corner. At least it works. Neither had the sticker(s) that seal newly bought cases. I’ll buy locally next time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Many post-apocalyptic movies enter - one movie leaves. Turbo Kid IS that movie...
As a child growing up in the 80's, low budget post-apocalyptic films were a staple of weekend television and HBO. Some of them were trash, some were trashy, some were absolute jewels of action entertainment. A few even had heart, thought, and soul behind them.
For most people, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior is the pinnacle of the genre, taking a modest budget and making something depthful, savage, and entertaining out of it. For a time, it spawned many imitators, it's own sequels, and became an iconic standard by which most of those followers would be measured... decades later, Turbo Kid emerges from the Wasteland to fight for a place among the champions of the Thunderdome... does it measure up?
Oh yes. Yes it does. Turbo Kid is both a clever skillful homage and laugh out loud send-up of the 80's post-apocalyptic madness. It's funny - occasionally hilarious - brutally gory (in an over-the-top Troma or Peter Jackson way), well acted, and surprisingly heartfelt. It has everything you could want in a 80's B-style post-apocalyptic adventure... and a Gnome Stick!!! It's main conceit (and one that some viewers may not be able to accept) is that much of the civilization and resulting action revolves around BMX bicycles as the primary mode of transport. No nitro engines, no rusted hulking desert vehicles or flamethrower guitars - bikes. Kid's bikes. Yes, it's both absurd and oddly sensible in a world long past the point of decay, but if you can accept that, the rest of the movie is pure wasteland wonder. The humor is pervasive, but often played straight, and is always respectful of the genre. This is not a wry, snarky mockery of the genre and time period it's exploring. It's a love-letter - a blood soaked, flying buzz-saw, nuclear fallout, rainbow unicorn love-letter
Acting is solid from all the main players, including genre icon Michael Ironside playing the kind of role he's been playing since before the bombs fell and the world moved on. He's great. So is the rest of the cast including Laurence Leboeuf, as the lead female protagonist. Her presence in the film is one of the things that most entertains and elevates everything happening around her. Some of the acting is intentionally over the top, cheesy, or energetic - sometimes deadly serious and dramatic. It's well directed, with actors very well cast in their roles. Visuals are polished and consistent with the look and feel of the movies it honors. The wasteland is strewn with decaying signs of the apocalypse, but the cinematography is professional and often poignant. Audio is great and the synth music soundtrack is a complete triumph. Even if you don't feel or love the film, the music is worthy of any synth rock put out in the 80's, with a few emotional nods to Blade Runner's Vangelis score as well as many great action themes.
If you're looking for a post apocalyptic film that's fun, sometimes silly, sometimes wistful, surprisingly epic - and wears it's influences on it's spiked football padded shoulders proudly - you WILL enjoy Turbo Kid.

Il film è stupendo, ricorda molto i film anni 80. In questa edizione c'è anche il cd con la bellissima colonna sonora di Le Matos, introvabile in Italia

5.0 out of 5 stars Post-apokalyptischer Action-Hero-Film mit umweltfreundlichem Fuhrpark.

5.0 out of 5 stars Josd Manuel
He recibido la pelicula hoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is one of the best films i've seen in ages
I first saw this a few weeks ago on the Horror channel. I wasn't expecting much judging by the dodgy films that are usually shown on said channel.. Well i was pleasantly surprised!!! This is one of the best films i've seen in ages.It has blood and guts,it is funny,it has a great cast, especially Laurence Leboeuf as Apple..
It also has a great soundtrack. There are not many films that make me think i need HD copy of that, but this is definitely one so i had to buy it.
Can't wait for Turbo Kid 2...
