    I absolutely LOVE this movie! I have it on VHS -- that tells you how old the movie is -- so I've been looking for it on DVD. If we lived in Texas, this could have been written about my family. In fact, the movie probably mimics most average American southern families. We can relate to all the storyline and it's about as "normal" as you get. I love the humor and the characters and use some of the lines in day to day conversation (example: Marlene: I've lost weight ya'll! Evalita: well look behind ya and you'll find it! Momma Wheelis reminds me of my 94 year old grandmother - the way she talks, the way she dresses and her witty honesty. This has become a family tradition for us to watch Daddy's Dyin's...Who's Got the Will every Thanksgiving.

    While this is about a father who is dying, it has so many funny moments. It takes you to all sorts of places every family either has been in or will go through. Each child is different. The grandma is hilarious and the hippie boyfriend seems to be the kindest. The last 5 minutes I will not give away but I always end up grabbing for a tissue and wiping away a tear or two!

    One of those movies that makes you think your family may not be so bad after all! All the kids are after dad's money while he lays on his deathbed. Some very funny moments from the cast, Bev D'Angelo gives an awesome performance as the "sleazy" sibling, a complete 360 from Mrs. Clark Griswold for sure! Great movie, I still enjoy it after all these years, a great comedy with serious overtones including some moments you wouldn't expect. The ending still brings tears. I would recommend this movie, great storyline and well done by the actors.
