Australian actor Brendan Cowell was raised in an artistic family, with both of his sisters involved in dance and music. From a young age, Brendan created his own shows to perform in the family living room after dinner. At age 8, he was cast in a commercial while awaiting one his sisters to come out of a rehearsal. He worked in television drama during his teens, before getting his degree in Communication, Theatre and Media from Charles Sturt University in Bathurst. He continued to work in film, theatre and television, and began writing plays in the late 1990 in response to his frustrations from seeing so many bad scripts. Currently, Brendan is a very successful playwright and actor in the Sydney theatre scene. His play, Rabbit, is the recipient of the 2003 Griffin Playwriting award for most outstanding new work in a given year, and his play, 'Bed', earned him a share of the 2001 Patrick White Playwrights award, the richest playwriting award in Australia for new talent.
