James Flanagan (born April 9th, 1981 in Manhattan, New York) is an American actor and writer. He began his professional career on stage in the world premiere of columbinus (written by Stephen Karam and PJ Paparelli) at Round House Theatre in 2005, and later received a Drama League Nomination (Ensemble) for the production's remount at New York Theatre Workshop in 2006. Other stage credits include Rolin Jones's The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow (Studio Theater, Helen Hayes Nomination, Best Resident Production 2006), Gregory S. Moss's House of Gold (Woolly Mammoth Theatre, 2010), Anna Ziegler's Photograph 51 (Theater J, 2011) and others. James began acting for the screen in brother Mike Flanagan's film Absentia in 2011. After earning his SAG card for a small role in season one of Netflix's House of Cards in 2013, he's frequently appeared in his brother's works, including Oculus, Gerald's Game, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Doctor Sleep, and the Netflix Series The Haunting of Hill House.
