Born in New York, and raised in New Jersey, Julie Carmen is of Spanish, Cuban, and German descent. She began her acting career off off Broadway, danced on Broadway in Zoot Suit and won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Venice Film Festival for her role in John Cassavetes's Gloria (1980). She studied extensively with Sanford Meisner at Neighborhood Playhouse and with Uta Hagen at HB Studio and Patsy Rodenburg. She is extremely grateful to have co-starred in films for Michael Mann, Robert Redford, John Carpenter, Nicolas Roeg, Billy Graham, Seth Zvi Rosenfeld, Reinhard Hauff, Christel Buschmann, 'Alfonso Ungria' and on television for Karen Arthur, Betty Thomas, David Milch and Quentin Tarantino. Julie holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology and works part-time as a licensed marriage and family therapist in Los Angeles. Since 2001 she has been teaching yoga at Exhale Center for Sacred Movement and has been Suzanne Somers' private yoga teacher since 2003. Read more on iMDB
