Nicholas D'Agosto was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. He is the son of Deanna Rae (Vellinga) and Alan D'Agosto, who franchises Arby's restaurants. His ancestry includes Italian (from his father) and Dutch (his maternal grandfather). Nicholas was a student when he was cast in Election (1999), which filmed in Omaha. He later moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to attend school at Marquette University, graduating cum laude with degrees in History and Theatre.
