Pacharo was born in Zimbabwe and as a young child lived in Malawi and Botswana before moving to Australia in 1993. He attended Ipswich Grammar School in Queensland, where he excelled in a range of sports, including rugby, basketball and athletics. Developing an interest in acting in his final years at high school, Pacharo was awarded a scholarship to attend the Australian Acting Academy in Brisbane while in Year 12, which led to him auditioning for entry into NIDA.
