Paul is originally from the village of Henryville, Quebec, where he lived until the age of twelve when his family moved to Victoria, British Columbia. Paul's father is from Sudbury, Ontario and worked as a civilian teaching English for the military. His mother is from Yorkshire, England and worked as a bookkeeper. Both are retired now. Paul attended Oak Bay Secondary in Victoria. The school had a very good drama program and that is where Paul got the acting bug. He then studied acting at The University of Victoria after which he attended the prestigious National Theater School in Montreal where he studied film and T.V acting with renowned teacher David Rotenberg.
