Sumiko Braun is a writer, producer, director, and actor best known for her role in the cult classic Sharknado. She has a master's from University of California, Los Angeles and a bachelor's from California State University, Long Beach, focusing on ethnic studies and film. Through UCLA's EthnoCommunications program, Sumiko directed and produced the documentary Master of the Sky: The Life and Art of Sam Koji Hale. As a Visual Communications Armed with a Camera fellow, Sumiko directed and produced Heart of Mind, which aired on Comcast's Xfinity On Demand for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and streamed on Chopso.
