Born in Roseburg, Oregon. Daughter of a State Highway Department Agent and a High School secretary. The youngest of four children. She attended public school in Portland, Oregon, where she performed her first play. A blossoming creative artist, Wendy pursued painting as well as acting and singing in High School. At the University of Puget Sound, she continued her education where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. Nominated several times for the Irene Ryan Award. She performed "Miss Scoons" in the University's production of Sam Shepard's "Angel City", at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. She continued her education at Yale University, where she received her Masters Degree at the Yale School of Drama. Performing Jane Wagner's "Agnus Angst", at the Yale Cabaret, allowed her the opportunity to meet an idol, Lily Tomlin.
